1) Describe your groups process in creating your radio play.
Jack and I just got together and just kind of spat out ideas that were mildly amusing until we got some that we really liked. We tried to see what would be the best character to do the show in and it was that greasy @$$hole kinda guy. It wasn't a very long process but then the whole computer crashing thing held us up a fair bit.
2) What did you feel was successful about your performance?
It ran really smoothly and the switching between computers wasn't really that bad. We got some really good feedback from people too.
3) What do you feel could have been imporved in your performance.
I could have stayed in character a lot better just by not laughing. It was really the first time we had fully run through the revised script so a couple things made me laugh pretty hard, but I had to keep going. That and we could have put it on one computer under any other circumstances but my computer wasn't being very nice so that didn't happen.

What is a ritual?
A repetition of warship of something or someone or a repetition to gain something mentally or spiritually.
What are examples of rituals?
Sunday mass, bar mitzvahs, movie festivals, The Olympics, most sporting events and large gatherings for fundraising or me to we.
How are rituals related to nature?
They often have to do with months or seasons or even the lunar calendar and its effect on people. It
Why is repetition critical to the enacting of a ritual?
Because you need people to remember certain parts of the ritual and there is nothing that can be committed to memory better than something repeated over and over and over and over and over and over.
List event that are repetitive in your live or the world around you.
Going to school, getting ready for events or just going out, meal times or the news starting at the same time every night.
What acting would you repeat on a regular basis?
Not sure what you mean here Sir.
Do rituals have symbolic value? Explain the value of symbolism in ritual.
Yes most often they do. In Sunday mass or most religious services there is one item or person who represents a greater power or being. IE. The cross, the torah, or the flying spaghetti monster. http://www.venganza.org/
How are rituals associated with theatre?
The first “plays”, if you can call them that, were in ancient Greece and it was a reenactment of the birth or death of one of their gods. What they would do was dress up in masks and gowns and kill a goat in front of people and it would be an entertaining thing to go see. Now people still dress up in masks and gown but there is less goat blood spilled.
How are rituals related to memory?
Rituals are like learning a song for performance or going to church, whatever it is that you do during the ritual usually gets drilled into your head so you remember it. It does have a brainwashing aspect to it but that is often overlooked for the purpose of the ritual.

How are hierarchies related to status? How does one assert one's status over others?
When someone is in a position like CEO, Principal or president they are usually very proud of themselves and expect respect. When someone is in a lower ranking position they usually don't get as much respect but they might deserve it. People who have power are usually wealthy well off people and people who are well off and wealthy usually have or get power. Someone with a lot of power assert their status by using their status. Usually lines like "I out rank you," Or "I'm your boss." Usually come up here or there; once again having to do with power or status. If you think about it power and status are really the same thing or at least always go together. There's a thought for the day.

Which of your faces/masks/personas is really you?
Please devote a paragraphy to a well structured, well edited response. This is due: Wed. Oct. 8
I think it's my home face that is the real me. If everyone was exactly started acting like the do at home, outside that would be an interesting world to live in. Everyone has a different persona with everyone. What I mean by that is that if for whatever reason you decided to lie or something to the person you have to keep going with that lie and you have to say things to move around them finding out it was a lie. Another thing is status. If someone is your buddy of course you're going to talk casually with them but if its a a family friend who you don't really know that well you say things that you think will please them. So yes I think my house or more specifically "room Spencer" is my actually me.

1. How is role-playing or acting different from taking on a particular attitude during a group activity?
Because you could be on your own on stage and be not part of a group but the whole play yourself.
2. What can you do to improve your contribution to group work?
Let other people take the lead and give ideas.

Drama work Sept 25
1. What makes role-play enjoyable?
The fact that your making up the role and can make that person be whatever you want them to be. You can release things that are going on in the real world through characters.
2. How does adding details improve the work? What are those details?
It makes it more believable and realistic. It’s the small things that count like the way you move your hands when you talk, the way you speak or move on stage.
3. Some sociologists say that because most families today have so much technology, we have become so self-sufficient that we think that we don’t need communities anymore. What do you think about this?
It’s true to an extent. If we all locked ourselves away in some basement with a cell phone and a laptop no one would really feel connected to anyone. If we can actually cooperate with a large group of people verbally then it is much more useful.
4. How important is concentration and focus in this kind of work? Why?
Very important because you have to listen to what the other people are saying all the time and while your doing that you have to stay in character.
5. How important is listening to others in this kind of work? Why?
Once again very important because if your partner makes an offer and your off in the magical realm of over there the scene immediately stops and you usually break character.
6. How does role play in drama help us understand ourselves as human beings on this planet?
We can express things that we are going through in role and laugh about it and keep on going. It also makes us understand what other people may be feeling if you are 100% committed to a role.

A Clockwork Orange (Mcconnell, Reznick, Gross, Barton)
2) Briefly describe the process your group undertook in preparing for your performance. What worked? What didn’t work?
We tried to rehearse as much as we could and we all contributed ideas as much as possible. The rehearsal worked a lot, of course, and we just really tried to get a feel for the movie as much as we could ie. watching clips and looking up NADSAT words. Nothing really DIDN'T work but there were just things we knew we couldn't do because some of the scenes were just too out there.
3) Do you feel your performance was successful or not successful? Why or why not?
Yes I think it was very successful. We had done everything we wanted too do and the only part we really had trouble with were one or two of the transitions. We really got the plot of the movie across using very few tableaus.
4) What do you think could have been improved about your performance?
As I said before, just the transitions.
5) What do you think worked well in your performance?
The narration while frozen worked quite well and the costumes were really helpful to the performance.

drama work
1. How are still images (tableaux) used in movies?
To set up the open sequence or to end the whole movie. Or if one of the characters and freeze time (which would be awsome) they would have to use a tableaux, using special effect or just the old fashioned way.
2. How can a tableau help the audience understand ideas and feelings in drama?
Its like looking at a paiting or a picture in a way. All of the ideas are clear and given right infront of you. Its the same if in a guided tour or something the person stopped and just sumed up one idea of the tour or the whole tour in acouple short sentences.
3. What is the difference between being sculpted into a gesture and creating a gesture on your own in a tableau?
When you are sculpted you are being exposed and holding positions that would not necessarily be comfortable with you. When your just going into a gesture you are aware of the way you want to move and do things that may not look good in a certain sense but with
4. Why might a group use sculpting to create a tableau in a drama presentation?
Because it would be as if instead of everyone's single idea there was a generic way of posing and it would look uniform and good.
